At the center of this bag is a lion's face rendered in a spectrum of quilted color — his mane sweeps outward in layered fabric pieces of flame orange, golden yellow, deep teal, crimson, and violet, each strand a separate appliquéd section stitched with fine detail lines that follow its curve. His face is built up from warm golds and soft sage greens, with piercing teal eyes that anchor the whole composition. The swirling background — teal, navy, and purple clouds worked in tight concentric quilting — gives the piece real depth and movement. Claire and Riley found this bag exactly as their mother Margaret taught them to shop: hold out for the one that stops you cold. This is that one.

• A Mane Worth Looking At — The lion's mane is built from dozens of individually appliquéd fabric pieces in orange, gold, teal, and crimson — no two strands the same color, each one outlined in fine quilted stitching.

• Swirling Quilted Background — The deep teal and navy background is worked in tight concentric spiral quilting that gives the bag a textured, almost sculptural feel you can run your fingers across.
• Handles That Match the Work — The carry handles are wrapped in the same patchwork fabric used in the bag's design — striped sections of orange, gold, and deep purple that tie the whole piece together.
• The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
