Four horse portraits fill every inch of this barrel-shaped bag — a steel-blue roan with a white blaze, two golden palominos with flowing amber manes, and a warm chestnut pressing in from the right edge. Each head is rendered in layered quilted fabric, the manes built up in long curving strips of rust, gold, cream, and violet so they look almost windblown. Fine echo-quilting stitches swirl across the background panels in sunset oranges, teals, and deep reds, giving the whole surface a low relief that catches the light. Claire and Riley found this piece while choosing inventory for the shop their mother Margaret opened here in Cape May in 1978 — and it is exactly the kind of thing she would have stopped mid-aisle to pick up herself.

• The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
