Across the entire face of this roomy quilted duffel sits a bold cat portrait — a wide-whiskered, wide-eyed feline rendered in deep navy, sky blue, aqua, and crisp white. The face fills the bag completely: layered geometric patchwork pieces form the fur and cheek markings, while dimensional appliqué builds up the swirling, almost painted irises in concentric rings of cobalt and turquoise. The nose is a deep blue button of fabric, and embroidered stitch lines trace every whisker and fur tuft with real precision. The handles and side panels carry the same blue-and-white patchwork geometry, so the whole bag is a single cohesive piece of textile art. Claire and Riley found this at a small artisan studio and knew immediately it belonged on the shelf their mother Margaret first stocked in 1978 — because Margaret always said a truly good bag should have something to say.

• The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
• Looking After Her — Spot clean with a soft damp cloth and let her air dry. No tumble dryer — it flattens the quilting.
