A sunset you carry with you long after the trip ends

This barrel-shaped traveler is covered in a full tropical sunset scene, built up in layers of quilted cotton and raised appliqué. Tall, brown-trunked palm trees arch across the bag's body, their fronds stitched in deep greens and gold. Below them, horizontal bands of quilting run in waves of coral, rose, lavender, cobalt blue, and teal — the colors of a sky going down over water. A golden sun sits quilted in tight concentric circles at the center. Lush banana leaves and tropical blooms crowd the lower panels, and the carry straps are woven in the same warm coral-and-multicolor stripe. Claire and Riley found this piece for the shop their mother Margaret opened in Cape May in 1978 — and it carries that same spirit of careful, unhurried choosing.

• Sunset Scene In Full — The entire bag surface tells one continuous story — quilted horizon bands in coral, lavender, and cobalt blue frame a golden sun that sits dead-center in tight circular stitching.

• Raised Palm Appliqué — The palm trees stand out from the surface in padded appliqué, their brown trunks and multi-toned green fronds casting real dimension you can feel as well as see.
• Striped Woven Straps — The carry handles are thick, woven fabric straps in the same coral-and-multicolor palette as the bag itself, so nothing looks like an afterthought.
• The Last of This Run — We took what the workshop had left. Once these are gone we will not be getting them again.
• Looking After Her — Spot clean with a soft damp cloth and let her air dry. No tumble dryer — it flattens the quilting.

You pull it off the baggage carousel in Fort Lauderdale and three people ask where you got the bag with the palm trees before you even reach the exit.
